Conference-Funded Mission Projects

A list of the 62 current mission projects within the District that are sponsored by the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Information for volunteer help and contributions is detailed for several of the projects.

District-Funded Mission Projects

In addition, there are several additional programs that are funded by District Benevolence Apportionments paid by our 51 congregations.

Lay Speaking Ministry

Local Lay Speakers serve in and through their local churches. To be recognized as local church lay speakers, they must be recommended by their pastor and Church Council or Charge Conference, and complete the basic course for lay speaking. Each year they must reapply, reporting how they have served and continued to learn during that year.

Child Care Centers

A list of 27 Child Care Centers associated with United Methodist Churches in the Cleveland District.

Hot Meal Programs & Food Pantries

A list of 15 local UMCs that provide community meals for those in need at various times during the month throughout the District.  Also listed are 3 churches conducting "Food Pantry" programs that collect non-perishable food items in conjunction with area organizations.

Sports Ministry

A ministry of health and fitness, this program provides an opportunity to challenge the body as well as the spirit.

Young Adult and Singles Ministries

A list of programs at 6 local UMCs directed toward young adults and singles for the purposes of fellowship and spiritual growth.  Bible studies combine with social activities to provide a dynamic mix of events.

Summer Programs

District and other local programs including Vacation Bible School, Berea Children's Home & Family Services Summer Camp, and Youth Missions.
